Spring Membership Luncheon

Events for the year began with our annual Membership Luncheon held at the Greystone Golf Course. in White Hall, Maryland. After a delicious lunch and a short review of upcoming activities planned for the year, we held an informal “identity” contest of historic photos of past Club events and members. Everyone enjoyed the challenge and the lively discussions that followed.

Annual Collector Car Swap Meet

The weather cooperated this year for our annual Collector Car Swap Meet and we had a financially successful event. Vendors occupied our indoor, outdoor and under cover spaces, offering their wide variety of automobile related items. One vendor was tempting visitors with his late 1930’s Pontiac for sale.

Membership Meetings – Plus Food!

The saying: “If you feed them, they will come” has been true for our special 70th Anniversary Chesapeake Region membership meetings held this year. Monthly membership meetings, featuring food items such as ice cream, pizza and meatball subs have attracted good attendance. We’ve had the opportunity to meet and socialize with many of our newest Club members at these events.

Tech Sessions

Our Club Technical Director holds periodic “Tech Sessions” at his well-equipped home garage, and sometimes at the home of a Club member, to diagnose and correct problems that might be occurring with a collector vehicle.  Club members are invited to attend. Recently an at-home 1962 Pontiac Catalina was diagnosed for a persistent start-up issue.  The problem was traced to bad gasoline in the tank. After the bad gasoline was pumped out of the tank for disposal, and replaced with fresh gasoline, the engine started up and ran well.  Mission accomplished!

These Tech Sessions held by our knowledgeable Technical Director not only help a Club member correct their specific vehicle problem but also provide an educational opportunity for attending Club members.

Four-Alarm Collector Car Show

This year, to avoid hot weather issues of the past, we moved our annual event held at the fabulous Fire Museum of Maryland earlier in the year to the month of May. Good move! The weather for the annual event was perfect. The turnout of collector vehicles exceeded our expectations. An eclectic variety of vehicles were represented. Great food was available on-site for a reasonable cost, provided by the local favorite vendor: Food by Fire.  An enjoyable day.
